Insights — City Strategy

Tier 1 Cities
GCC Strategy.

Bangalore and Hyderabad are not always the right choice — but when they are, they are unmatched. Here is when a Tier 1 city strategy makes sense for your GCC and how to maximise it.

When Tier 1 is Right

Tier 1 cities are right
for specific mandates.

Miracle Global recommends Tier 2 cities for most Nano and Micro GCCs. Lower cost, lower attrition, comparable talent depth at senior specialist level. But Tier 1 cities — Bangalore and Hyderabad — have genuine advantages for specific mandates that cannot be replicated elsewhere in India.

01

AI Research Labs

For an AI Lab requiring PhD-level researchers publishing at NeurIPS and ICML, Bangalore is non-negotiable. The IISc and IIT Bangalore proximity, the Google DeepMind and Microsoft Research ecosystem, and the concentration of senior researchers is unmatched in India.

→ Bangalore, Hyderabad

03

Enterprise GCC with 100+ specialists

At 100+ headcount across multiple domains, the talent pipeline requirements exceed what Tier 2 cities can sustain at senior levels across all domains simultaneously. Tier 1 cities have the depth to hire 100 senior AI engineers without exhausting the market.

→ Bangalore, Hyderabad

03

Regulatory and academic partnership

For IIT co-location, academic-industry hybrid labs, or GCCs requiring close proximity to India’s top research institutions, Bangalore (IISc, IIT Bangalore) and Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) are the only options.
