Key Trends

Five trends shaping
GCCs in India in 2026.

Trend 1 — AI as the dominant mandate

In 2020, most GCCs were set up for IT services and software development. In 2026, AI capability is the primary mandate for 60%+ of new GCC setups. LLM engineering, MLOps, and AI product development are the most in-demand roles.

Trend 2 — GCC 2.0 ownership replacing vendor dependence

A wave of companies that built India capacity through vendors are hitting the dependency wall — repricing risk, knowledge loss, and IP fragmentation. GCC 2.0 with direct ownership is the structural response. Miracle Global’s managed GCC model is the fastest path to this transition.

Trend 3 — Tier 2 city adoption accelerating

Bangalore and Hyderabad are still the deepest talent pools, but Pune, Chandigarh, Kochi, and Indore are growing at 2–3× the rate of Tier 1 cities for GCC setups. Lower cost (40–55% vs Tier 1) and lower attrition (15–22% vs 35–45%) are the primary drivers.

Trend 4 — Smaller GCCs becoming viable

The Nano GCC model — 5 to 30 people, operational in 30–45 days, from $14K/month — has opened GCC ownership to Series A and B companies that previously could not justify the setup investment. This is the fastest-growing segment of the market.

Trend 5 — AI Labs as a separate category

R&D-intensive organisations are establishing standalone AI Labs in India — separate from delivery GCCs, focused on foundational research and proprietary dataset development. The Academic-Industry Hybrid Lab model, co-located with IITs, is emerging as a distinct category.
